I wouldn’t say that I have a specific style. I listen to a lot of music genres and I think that every kind of music has something to offer you. Mostly, I listen to Traditional, Classical and Jazz music.

Interview

By: Azad Karimi

We are all somehow indebted to Greek culture.
It seems to an exaggerate clime. But I'm aware and I understand what I say! And no one can deny my claim.
History says that... I remember that when I was younger than today! I followed a cultural magazine under title "On the eve of the tomorrow" ... The magazine was trying induce The great Alexander is a legendary character... I was young ,but I had not trend to pay attention to this adventures... The argument to ancient texts. But in this texts have been called Ajdihay ''The Luck is back, miserable'' the last king of The Medes Empire...
Ok! About Panagiotis Tsapis ,the Greek artist I should say he is very talented artist... When you hear his instrument you feel a pure pleasure and spiritual ...
We had a good conversiation few days ago...I sent him my questions and asked him the answers.
He accepted my request... Now, it is ready to read !
I wish him success and happiness...
Dear Panagiotis ! You are my friend and please continue the correct way to achieve a huge success.

1- What is your dedicated instrument?

- I started my music education with the bouzouki instrument and later on I continued as a guitarist. However, I would say that my dedicated instrument is the ney flute. I started by the age of 22, but the ney and the East Mediterranean Music became my whole life.

2- What is your style?

- I wouldn’t say that I have a specific style. I listen to a lot of music genres and I think that every kind of music has something to offer you. Mostly, I listen to Traditional, Classical and Jazz music. I could say that my work is based on traditional and classical music. But in the end, I think there are two kinds of music. Good and bad.

3- When you started such as a profesional musician?

- I started my career as a professional musician by the age of 20, thanks to the amazing musician and beloved friend Eleni Era, who gave me the chance to play in Cyprus and also abroad for many years.

4- What is your plan to develope your style and instrument?

- The only plan I have is to learn more about music and do the things that I love the most, compose and perform live. The plan is to be around music. I feel sad when a day passes and I don’t play music. I also feel that houses without musical instruments are empty.

5- Are you a member in a music group or your activities is individual?

- I was a member in various music bands throughout the years. At the present moment, I work individually and have just released my first album called “Odi sti nichta”, meaning ode to the night in Greek. I like to use my instrument with different approaches.

6- How you see the view?

- I don’t know how to answer that. As I said before, I do not have any plans and I don’t really see any “view”. I like to act in the moment and only. The thing is that many people get nervous on how other people will react on their music or any other kind of art. That’s a malfunction. The only “view” I see is to be me and create music that I personally like. If I feel something listening to it, I believe that other people like me will feel the same. The people who will not like it, well... it's not for them.

7-please say about your personal life f.e :age, education ,job, civil status and...!

- I am 29 years old. I started my music education when I was 15. I continued to become a pilot. I got my ppl(private pilot license) but I stopped my career as a pilot because I couldn’t play music. After 1 year I moved to Greece and studied Sound Engineering and Social Theology. That’s when I fell in love with Byzantine music and East music in general. I am now finishing my master's degree in Social and Developmental Psychology(University of Cyprus). I work as a musician and also as a curator in a University’s Music Program for children. I am looking forward to perform my compositions in Cyprus and abroad.
