Interview

French Skulptor Franck Sadock

By Azad Karimi

The genius of real artists is astonishing. Why do they see the world in an astonishing way?

Is it because of genetics?... Is it because of cognition? ... because of the deep attention to detail? ...or because of philosophy? ... are they more popular with the Creator of the world and the forces/angels that govern the world?

I'm not too sure, but I know that they are rebellious and bold people who think beyond the natural laws of nature and this in itself is not a bad thing, because we humans also have a metaphysical dimension, so, forward we can travel to supernatural realms using our visualization with our limited material and mental tools.

Franck explains good himself and what he imagens about the art logic and formalism. He trust to minimalism method for describing his artistical-experiences and his mental perceptions in the realm of imagination. But what does the audience of his works know about minimalism? Basically, how much can he use this tool to express and explain his artistic secrets and perceptions?

Minimalism may be an escape to simplification, both in terms of content, philosophy, formalism, and expression, but it is never anarchy, although the form that emerges is entirely coincidental.

The simplicity and to be the idiom of a minimalist work of art do not necessarily mean an escape from the conventional order, nor does the complexity of a work of art necessarily mean anarchism.

Of course, the randomness of minimalism is not necessarily artistic Dadaism.

Since Dadaism is an event in the logic of disorder, minimalism is a practical approach to considering freedom from philosophical complexity and trying to harmonize the formalistic dimensions of a work of art with the least expense of word, line and volume and this is the idea that Franck quotes from the English poet Robert Browning: Less is more!

I think that I should cut my long words, and pay attention to the interesting words of my dear friend Franck. He is a creative artist and I wish him success and pride.

Thank  you!

1- Please present yourself: Name, education, Civil status and...

.My name is Franck Sadock, I'm a French sculptor. I did architecture studies then the Fine Arts in Paris, so I am, no one, can consider that I am an artist, poet "recovered" by psychoanalysis. I have been working with plaster for over 20 years. I'm passionate about to movie images. I handle it as I would like.I like to do stills because we keep track of before and later, the images that I use for my sculptures if I had to define my artistic approach, I would say that it is: artistic representation of a political, elegant, and poetic image. It is from the sessions at the National Assembly that I find my figures (sound).

2-What is your artistic speciality?

.I am a sculptor above all, but drawing is present in my sculptors, an engraved design.

3- When and how did you become interested in this field?

.At the Beaux-Arts, I was very interested in the sculpture of

50's, 60's. Minimalist art, conceptual art with artists like, Carl André, Donald Judd, Robert Smithson the radical artists, with a very innovative approach. The material I use: the plaster tile could be from the minimalist current, but I am thereafter, the lapidary inscription of a human representation.

4- Who was your motivator?

.The need to invent a visual language, to want to be less

silent (the two are linked) then, the need to think for myself.

5- What was your parent’s reaction?

.I want to see my family at the age of 25.

6- When did you become such a professional artist- Sculptor?

.I became a sculptor when I graduated from Fine Arts, before, I painted, drew, photographed. It was very complicated, the art world was very far 20 years ago a work that finds its origins in the political world contemporary. I also very quickly gave lessons in a high school to students with academic difficulties, I continue this activity today.

7- Are you thankful and happy because of your activities as a Sculptor?

.I also very quickly gave lessons in a high school to students with academic difficulties, I continue this activity today. I find them very interesting, I see them as living paintings. This work integrated language, sound but also calls on the human sciences.

8- How do you see the view about art, Sculpture, culture?

.Like something essential, but the artist must refrain from creating objects already seen, do not add more but on the contrary by to take off. It must become a mental and creative process, avoid:"Loading".

9- Can you become one part of the cultural movement for motivation in youth or new generations in your country and so on?

. I could be an "influencer", it's about time for that, but it is also a question about the rhythm of musicality, even breathing. The "viewer" must find the tone to enterthe work. If there is an agreement with the work then there is movement, astonishment, and ardor.

10- How can you help our world become a better place to live?

I can't answer, it's a very personal question that becomes problematic. Everyone should ask his conscience and ask himself whether his actions not defile the environment. We can also ask ourselves whether our mental health is good enough not to offend the other through our actions, our language, our actions, questioning ourselves is a good thing... This requires taking more time and being, staying altruistic ...

11- Have you more words to say or suggest for our readers?

. « less is more », It seems important to me now more than ever to strive for simplicity and being able to be close to the foundations of minimalism. It would be interesting to Dream about the world as we see it today, painted white, this, the time that suits everyone. Other apparatus colors, shapes, new ideas surgiraient, there would be rebirth and nothing would allow us to return otherwise, it will be the debut of a new world.
