I just like the groove you know I never wanted to play like anybody else so I didn't really copy anybody else's style other licks cuz I didn't want to that's probably what slow beat down...

Interview

American Musician Howard McLaughlin

By Azad Karimi

Dear friends and readers! I wish you happiness and health. I hope you are safe from colds and spring dull allergies.

In the interview that you will read, I had a friendly chat with an intimate, interesting, and honest American artist, and he made this interview enjoyable with interesting answers. I'm glad to know this Texas artist and to be friends with him. It brings joy and pride. Somewhere he says: My motivation was to get out of the house and be a rebel chase girls.

I remembered high school and university ...

I have not seen America, I have only seen this vast country through movies. What I have seen in the films of this country can only be the personal perceptions of the directors of these films on one or more subjects, which result in one or two hour films not what America really is.

These phenomena remind me of different parts of American culture: Broadway theater, country music, blues, Hollywood, and rock and roll.

In order to don't stay away from the topic of the interview, I ask you to pay attention to the text of the interview.

I wish my dear friend Howard happiness and success.

Thank you!

1- Please present yourself: (Name, education, Civil status and...)

. My name is Howard McLaughlin Beard quiet school 10 grades had to go to work and play music.

2-What is your artistic specialize?

.I love the Guitar,Harp, Bass Percussion.

3- When and how did you become interested in this field of art?. Just happened don’t really know other at that music was something feels good like everyone else just started playing.

4- Who was your motivator?

.My motivation was to get out of the house and be a rebel chase girls and stuff like that then I started feeling something love for music that no one could take from me I could be myself I guess really don't know more than that just a pure feeling for the guitar never will master it’s it's fun.

5- What was your parent’s reaction?

.My mother God rest her soul. She was always working to make ends meet I really don't think she noticed my step dad By McLaughlin was a picker a little of course I liked the rock and rock blues got in to traditional blues late.

6- When started you such as professional musician?

.Well! I'm sorry about it making a little money at it and I gave it a whirl and didn't do too good but I did good enough to stay afloat there's guys making a way bigger money than I ever dreamed of but I just love the guitar I love blues I love country and I love jazz so I love anything's got Melody and I decided I wanted to play as a kid and I started making a little bit of money I mean I never really made you pick money at it I really didn't have to work all the time but anyway professionally I've been professional I play for guys like Billy Jack collard in corpus Christi you know I've been fortunate enough to play with him.

we opened up with Jerry Lee Lewis Mickey Gilley Dennis Gilley was a very good fine singer Dennis Gilley is a master singer and piano player just as good as his uncle I think that I mean God they're both good it was a steel player that was really good and was Don on Williams and Charlie White was on drugs dad was a Mr. White musician anyway I've been honored to play with a lot of good musicians Billy Jack collar was probably the longest in the corpus that I was able to work every night we had a soul band quick draw saloon we had a soul banded electric eel and I always follow the guitar player that was really good so it was kind of tough for me to step in the shoes or some of these guys like Evan wood you know kind of monster he's probably still there John Lopez chop Papa shop one of the best guitar players .

I think around you know he's just overlooked he's got a master speed got Master Tony presses real hard and machine he's not doing more records and stuff on the big big big big big circuit the guys are master anyway I've been honored to play with a lot of good musicians and of course I moved to Austin play the blues there for a while and got into the blues so heavy and then I moved to Dallas got into the blues real heavy there and drugs and and just all kinds of stuff is stuck with my career and but I still play tonight and work in the daytime I just didn't take things too serious except drugs and I was a heroin addict and I've been cleaning for almost 20 25 years off methadone for six or seven and feels good you know I screw up a little occasionally but not on the downers anyway so much for all that and now I'm just sitting with this cover thing and waiting to see what happens we'll all see you know God's will not ours anyway next question.

7- Are you thankful and happy because of your activities as musician?

.You bet it's great being a musician it's finally nice to have time to sit back and listen a lot it's a lot of music that I was always working on supporting a wife or you know how that goes and playing so I didn't have time to listen its kind of barely listening here and there had to go you know how it's really cool and my old age is 65 it's really cool to sit back and listen listen listen and play and it's different, Now you know it's it's cover thing.

I've been trying to make a positive move out of it and so far it's just been up and down you know like all of us yeah I forgot where I was anyway all's well and I just feel great being a guitar player I feel great to even have a little bit of a talent that most people have I mean you guys like Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gayle, Eric Clapton you know Robert Cray, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters.

I mean these guys are really playing some unique stuff they givens Jeff Beck you know and to be to be even a guitar player among these guys and somebody listen to it one person is enough for me sometimes anyway that's all I got Google

8- What is music culture? What is music logic?

. I think there's to me there's no logic in music I mean there's right and there's a wrong but sometimes you can make something out of wrong you know so as far as logical music is not logical to me it's very very complex.

You don't have to know what you're doing just play you know I mean you make a mistake hit it twice or make something positive out of it a lot of times a group will come out of a negative thing on the guitar as far as the culture I was raised on you know I listened to Jeff Beck Mark Farner and Grand funk, Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters but that nutrition traditional stuff didn't happen till later I listened to a lot of rock led Zeppelin and didn't pick up on our chops.

I just like the groove you know I never wanted to play like anybody else so I didn't really copy anybody else's style other licks cuz I didn't want to that's probably what slow beat down I hear guys playing this stuff all the time and the phenomenal so it's probably what slowed me down and I ran to the blues cuz it was simple and easy and I could still groove without you know cause effects you know if I had a bad night or whatever you just play it just play you know that's what I do here in this room it's cold everything.I just play and I don't care if it's not because anybody it feels good to me anyway that's culture to me.

I seem like I'm culture, you know! I've been to Europe, New Mexico, Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Texas, and played a few of those places mainly I just traveled a lot Amarillo... my home is Amarillo and my original home in Corpus Christi Texas and I played Dr. Rockefeller opened up for Greymouth Brown a bunch of great actors opened up a junior Wells at the center theater let's see it just goes on and on that's culture to me your culture is built every day and every moment and every note that you feel and hurt...

9- Why does some melody become immortal?

.That's a really beautiful question because a lot of Melody is the most important thing in music I think in rehearsal during that working on exercises or strength you know Melody some melodies are just haunting they stick with you forever and those are the ones that stand to test the time I think is those are the true true music the Lord and all that stuff connected it's all meant to be because they give me hints you know excuse me while I kiss the sky you know stuff like you know everybody thought he said guy he said sky s k y you know give me was not a fagot man so let's get that straight anyway you know Eric Clapton and his white room and all that stuff to me was was almost God sent you know I mean it feels so good it's easy top Duane Allman and Allman Brothers one way out you know things like that and then you know comes along Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Vaughn and all the blues things from Austin and I just I never really caught on but I just love it so and I'm lucky just to be a part of it anyway I forgot what the question is but that seems to be the only answer I have right nowI got.

10- How you see the Music, art and culture in your perspective? I mean your prediction for the future of music!

. I probably answer the last question with this question I'm not sure and just straighten it out I see the music industry is going forward I mean there's some really good players right now man there I see it completely going forward I don't see any halt in and whatsoever I love the new music and I love the old music so the country is taking off to a level of sky-high soul music and rap is taking off to a level of sky-high I mean yeah there's some good Melody and some good pop and shit going on out there man I see it going forward forward forward because musicians ain't going to stop they're playing better and better and better and better every day and for somebody to say I love this old music better than the new is they're not listening so anyway that's all I got on that so anyway that's all.

11- Can you become one part of the cultural movement for motivation in youth or new generation in your country and so than?

.I got o I'll answer this question is best I can there's so much music out there that's good that it has to be shifted through before I could say you know when I become one with any part of anything because if I've prepped me if I'm wrong the question that you asked me was can I become one or part of foreign music or seems like I may be wrong music is got so many cultures I love so much of it that I can't pin myself down to anything except the untraveled path and better and better and better but there they come in every every culture and every state and every continent there's just I hear so much on the Facebook of people that send me stuff and I'm just blown away and some of it is you know is good but it does just not blow your way stuff it's kind of like mine it does not really blow your waist up and it's okay so you know you know like you hear my CDs it's quite a few years back but it's nothing I mean compared to what's going on now it's nothing and anyway, I hope you're doing some new stuff soon but nevertheless no I can't pay myself down to anyone music I love everything from Jimi Hendrix to muddy Waters I mean to Marvin Gaye to Sam Cooke to all the legends to get back to Eric Clapton you know Ron woods and Mick Jagger and I just love it all man Betty givens both on and like I said before Jimmy Bond you know you know this guy.

12- How can you help our world become a better place to live?

13- Have you more word to say or suggest for our readers?

.I have any more for your readers. well I would say thank you for the interview, first of all, thank you so much I'm really honored and also I would say thank you for listening to music and you know of all kinds and open up you know if you like one kind of music just try another and see if you like it you know if you don't go back to the original you know what just listen to music thank you so much for doing that and I would say try your best to love everybody and that's hard to do sometimes I know I feel that at all time try your best and that's all we can do and pray for each other all rights are just tearing it up man and they really play good you know so I tried ton that.
