I'm happy because I am in this field, do not forget that I am an actor and I carry a message with me. I rejoice when the audience applauds me.

Interview

Tunisian Cinema actor Lotfi Msehli

By Azad Karimi

Lotfi criticizes the locking of the critique space for art, which is an important tool in expressing the problems of society and the shortcomings and shortcomings of the system.

He criticizes religious fanaticism. He is delighted with the democratic atmosphere in Tunisia that has made the film industry flourish.

What Lotfi complains about, I have felt and experienced with all my being. While I was in Iran on February 1999, after passing several stages of exams, I was called to Tehran for the final stage. I was accepted to direct and produce television at Iran Television College and should straight to class. But I had to pass complex political and religious exams to be eligible to enter college.

As a result, I was rejected in the final stage. For example, in response to a question about the civil war of the family of the Prophet of Islam, I said that I would not take sides.

The course of my life changed completely. I did not comment on a subject that has nothing to do with the beliefs of a religion.

The question is, the Tunisian revolution was carried out by intellectuals, but why should religious fanatics try to take over the country?

Why do these people want to repeat the terrible experience of the Iranian religious revolution in their country?

Mustafa al-Aqqad portrayed the history of Islam in a film; Basically, Islam forbids music, painting, lyricism and philosophy. What opportunities is it for art, literature and thought?

From this it becomes clear that religious fanatics are enemy to aesthetic manifestations, and they send the masses to the streets under any pretext to strike at a democracy that it’s rooted in aesthetics and culture.

It must be said that the world and the Middle East, by the young and intelligent and brave people, will not allow these fanatists to grow and multiply.

I wish my dear friend, Lotfi Msehli success and success and success...

God Bless Lotfi Msehli.

Thank  you!
