Interview

Swedish Singer-Songwriter & Stage Performer Peter Simson

By Azad Karimi

I read this sentence and thought about it:

I’m working hard now to strive for less perfection and look for the right feeling instead.

Dear Swedish artist Mr. Peter Simson says this sentence and believes in it and strives for it.

It's very interesting, but I believe that this move by Simson is a step towards perfectionism.

What is perfectionism?

- Striving to present the best in every field, including art and this can be done through perception, intuition, and creativity and basically, art means creating. Of course, being inspired by visible(Nature) and invisible (Imagination and metaphysics) manifestations is very important in this field and that's the importance of the feeling that Peter is trying to cultivate.

I prefer to finish this topic and invite you to read our interview.

I wish my dear friend Peter success and good health.

Thank you!

                                                        .....................................

1- Please present yourself: Name, education, Civil status and...

. Peter Simson, musician and artist but I also have double bachelors exams. Economy and System development. Married with two adult kids.

2-What is your artistic speciality?

. Singer and songwriter and according to my followers a good “on stage performer.

3- When and how did you become interested in these fields of art?

.Music has been essential in my life as long as I can remember but I started playing in a band when I was 13 and quickly was hooked...

4- Who was your motivator?

. Hard to say... I had two goals with music; having fun and getting girls...

5- What was your parent’s reaction?

. They were proud and every time they saw me live they acted like I was singing the national anthem for the king.

6- When did you become such professional Singer and songwriter?

. Someone once said you have to do what you want to be good at for more than 10 000 hours. I passed that several years ago. This sometimes actually feels like a disadvantage. The more control you get over your voice, the harder it can be to just let the feeling take control. I’m working hard now to strive for less perfection and look for the right feeling instead.

7- Are you thankful and happy because of your activities as an Artist/ Singer and Songwriter?

. Sometimes. I have done some records that I’m not very satisfied with but the older I get, the more satisfied I get. Feels good...

8- How do you see the view about art, music, singing, and culture? What is your prediction for the future of art, song and culture?

. Art will always be important in all societies. You can stop people from some things but you can never stop them from singing, painting or expressing themselves if they want to. Right now it’s really tough with COVID-19 but this will pass and then we will hit the road again and in the meantime we’ll sing in the shower, the car or, as I prefer, in the studio.

9-What are the characteristics of a good song? Why do some songs become immortal?

. Impossible to say what characterises this but to be immortal a song has to touch something in the receiver. For me it’s a combination of truth in lyrics, a voice that conveys this and a melody that somehow reaches out to me.

10- Can you become one part of the cultural movement for motivation in youth or new generations in your country and so on?

. I think that’s too late for me. Hopefully I can motivate some to follow their hearts, without it your music might work for consummation but probably not for yourself...

11- How can you help our world become a better place to live?

. I can’t do anything more than treat others the way I would like them to treat me. Kindness is hopefully the key for human development but when you see how the world looks like in some (too many) places one might unfortunately doubt this...

12- Have you more words to say or suggest for our readers?

.If you understand Swedish, listen to my music, if you don’t please listen anyway...
