Interview

Nepali Politician Prakash Khanal

By Azad Karimi

Many people who are somehow involved in and interested in international law and relation, develop a kind of cosmopolitan mysticism. Regardless of the fact that international law is basically a field of study for the training of skilled and knowledgeable diplomats to enter the field of world politics to defend the national interests of their country.

When you talk about interests, you are talking about economics, and national interests are the macro-economy of a country, but the defense of national interests is the science of diplomacy, which is manifested in the law of public international relations.

But one thing that is often overlooked is the word *relationships* in this phrase. International relations law is the science of defending national interests while respecting and adhering to the national interests of the other country.

Thus, it is observed that in most cases, the countries that cut ties with each other have Interests Section offices through the embassies of the other two countries, so that consular services or some diplomatic cases can be performed or exchanged through them.

My dear friend Prakash, who is an admirable and wise young man, has studied political science and international economic law. He has written his words concisely and meaningfully, and his accuracy in choosing words is interesting and admirable. The image he paints of his country Nepal is very concise and clear.

The country was in turmoil in the political conflicts between China and India, and finally, with the end of the monarchy in this country and the recruitment of Maoist rebels in the army, the republican system was finally established in Nepal.

In the past, populous countries were considered as powerful because the presence of men of war was necessary for the conquests and expansion of the territory, as well as the maintenance of the political and security structure of the country.

In this age of high technology, having large populations without welfare facilities or the impossibility of war in the classical form is a serious challenge for these types of countries.

What is the value of having infantrymen when drones, missiles, and satellite systems control the battlefield?

On the other hand, the challenges of climate variability and change, depletion of energy, and finding food resources are a terrible nightmare for eight billion people .... Mass migration and population displacement are also a crisis. It can sometimes lead to war and demographic change, with catastrophic consequences such as war, displacement, and genocide. The Corona pandemic disaster also showed humanity's vulnerability and defenselessness in the face of unpredictable misfortunes.

All of this creates a sense of responsibility in those who are interested in political relations and international law because they see the world as a home to be protected.

I would like to tell you, dear readers, to read the text sent to me by my wise friend Prakash. Contrary to the interview routine, he only sent me a text instead of answering each question. I will write the text of the questions below and you will also read the text sent by Prakash from Nepal.

I wish the best to my good friend Prakash. God bless him and his country.

Thank you!

Dear Azad, Thank you for the questions.

I would like to inform you that the time I chose to study International Relationships and diplomacy was the period of political deadlock in my small country, Nepal, which is located between the world’s two rising economy China in the north and India in the south.

During the amendment of the constitution after perpetual political instability, we faced 6-7 months of the economic blockade as our internal political decisions could not meet the terms of is Indian National Interest.

Right at that moment, I was so much interested in the course called “International Political Economy”.

As this course was unavailable in the universities of our country I enrolled in this master's called International Relations and diplomacy finding IPE, which I mentioned above in one of the subjects of a semester.

I was so interested in the relationship among the international community before I started not believing in the territorial border system itself as my readings were drifted to universalism and spirituality during my third semester.

Slowly I started to lose interest in what’s going around me and gain interest in what’s going inside of me. Since then my path has completely changed. Now I am much more into being rather then doing.

I see myself as every living citizen of the world. The same collective mental illness is we all carry. I kind of transcended the territorial border system which came Into existence after the treaty of Westphalia in 1648. I believe no matter where we are located at this tenure of our own planet earth we all belong to a common race.

We all are supposed to find our connectivity with the source.

Let there be love and light among all the human beings and others beings too. Peace and love. Prakash Khanal ( An universe experiencing physical reality as a human for a little while on planet earth.)
