Why should people laugh? Comedy is part of the culture, you need to laugh, everybody needs and must laugh, the world would be boring instead.

Interview

French Comedian Yannik Mazzilli

By Azad Karimi

Make art to make people dream, think, laugh, cry, change their mind, bring deliberation…Yannik Says.

In his book, the famous Machiavelli says to keep people ignorant so that you can rule over them more.

This advice has been seriously pursued by some of the great and small rulers of the Middle East for centuries, and of course, they have benefited greatly from it but according to the law of nature, everything has an expiration date, and this version of Machiavelli, is not a cure for the pain of these dictators because the literacy level, knowledge and insight of the people have increased, and people can not be deceived as before. Of course, there is a long way to go before full wisdom in the Third World, but we must admit that ignorance does not dominate these countries as before. Hence, it has become difficult working for dictators.

So let me be clear: the death knell has been rung for dictators large and small in the Middle East and the rest of the Third World.

But what is ignorance? ... Drowning in the form of personal needs of yourself and being unaware of those around you ... But some may argue that our personal needs are born of the logic around us.

I agree to some extent! But which of our needs arises from the logic around us? Which logic dominates around us to categorize our needs?

It is here that Jean-Jacques Rousseau's theory that man is a social being comes to manifestation ... But if we look at it in the abstract, man is like an egg thrown into the environment and if we look at it from two sides, we believe that this egg, although it has the potential for independence (hatching), is still a fertilized sperm in an egg as long as it is a fertilized egg without a hatched chicken and of course, the date of its fertilization is up to a certain and normal time frame, and if this egg is not in fertile condition by that time, it will rot and perish. These are exactly the philosophy of human existence at the heart of the environment and society, and I cite these arguments as evidence of the confirmation of the sentence made by my dear friend Yannick, which I quoted at the beginning of this introduction.

Man must be made ... he must be made and taught in every way in order to leave a reserve in this world for the next generation ... Some may say that when we die one day, why should we build and leave a legacy?

But the answer is simple: if you do not like the world, do not reproduce so that you do not make a generation and that generation does not inherit your sabotage... Leave the world for those who love and respect it, because they leave a legacy for the next material and spiritual generation with their good deeds. This is a simple truth ... so be an artist, as Yannick says.

On the 11th of August, I published my friend's interview Andres Hoyos- Cespedes, in which I wished that for the future of democracy and the fight against tyranny and corruption, and for the defense of human rights and the future of the earth, we must take quick and sure steps ...

I also prayed that this idea would be realized soon... A few hours later, I read in the news that the White House had issued a statement from President Biden announcing that a large two-day conference would be held online on December 9 and 10 this year and in that conference, the ways of fighting tyranny, as well as the ways of spreading democracy and the ways of defending human rights, will be examined ... I was very happy ... Maybe after months, it was a good news to hear.

But new news is a very important issue and that is the fall of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, to the Taliban ... The question is, how will holding this conference help the poor people of Afghanistan? While intellectuals, women and children, diplomats, foreign soldiers, and their Afghan translators and colleagues are under threat in this country ... Why are Iran, Pakistan, China, and Russia celebrating victory? ...

Thank God ... I live in Norway, which has one of the most advanced democracies in the world and I enjoy its benefits, and the United States, where its history of democracy is long ... So people like me, who have gone from the darkness of tyranny to the light of freedom and democracy, understand well the need to develop democracy. And this step of the United States in the development of democracy is considered important and serious and effective, but how? While China, Iran, Pakistan, and  Qatar, by sedition, have plunged the Middle East into the abyss of destruction.

As I said before, raising the level of knowledge and awareness of the people in order to promote and spread the culture of democracy in backward countries has fewer costs than to think that ignorance and the ignorance of the people will perpetuate the culture of domination. And it is interesting that the tyrants in the Third World talk about the harms of democracy and free world culture, but they provide the best technological facilities for themselves. But they are ashamed to ride a donkey and attend the annual conference of world leaders at the United Nations in New York ...

I remember a few years ago, the Libyan dictator, Gaddafi,  set up a tent in front of the UN headquarters in New York because he believed that by doing so, he was showing his originality and independence from the West.

I told a friend that Gaddafi is a fool because he should travel without using airplanes, limousines, cell phones, stoves, refrigerators, and air conditioners to show that he is genuine, needless, and independent of the West ... At least he should write his message on deerskin and sent a letter via a pigeon to bring to the United Nations and be read by a representative there but the rulers of Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan are smarter. They try to be more modern, for example, they learn to speak English and wear suits, and maybe shake hands with women and pretend to understand Western culture and in the end, they lie to the free world and their own people... They are the backward leaders of the backward countries that misery has pervaded all the pillars of their country. They find their bread in the hunger of the people. I am sorry to say that they are just wasting the time of the people and the world and wasting human and natural wealth and resources... This is a bitter comedy.

Anyway ... I hope the situation gets better ... and I am very happy that I have understanding and cultured friends whose thoughts I publish through these interviews ...

I wish my artist friend, Yannik, happiness and success.

1- Please present yourself: Name, education, Civil status and...

.My name is Yannick Mazzilli, I was born in 1978 in the French alps, 2 kids, divorced, and I’m a French actor.

2-What is your artistic speciality?

.I don’t know if I have a specialty but I feel comfortable as much in comedy as more serious things. I love playing at the theater, shooting for movies or series. I love playing, as simple as that.

3- When and how did you become interested in this field of art?

.I was studying mathematics at university after my high school graduation, I was already really independent and I felt at that time that studying didn’t fit me anymore… and don’t ask me why I got interested in acting because I have no idea, I just knew at that time that I had to explore my artistic side, acting was a way and it’s got confirmed pretty fast.

4- Who was your motivator?

.My motivation wasn’t someone because I’m not a Cinephile and I only saw one theater play before trying it, it was more: Feelings, when you’re on stage, Telling stories Always improving yourself.

5- What was your parent’s reaction?

.Ahahahaha, my mother has always been on my side, she pushes me to do what I want, for my father it was more problematic… he gave me statistics about who succeeded in this “world” and it’s not really motivating… but my willing was strong, I found in love with my job, worked, and now he’s one of my number one fans.

6- When did you become such a professional Artist, Comedian Actor?
